What is Botox?
Botox is a neurotoxin that is injected into the skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It works by temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause wrinkles, resulting in smoother skin.
Is Botox Safe?
Botox is considered safe when administered by trained medical professionals in appropriate doses. All of our professionals at RENEW MEDSPA are licensed and training to perform Botox treatments.

Botulinum Toxin (Botox)
Botulinum toxin, produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, is a well-known neurotoxin. It’s used for both medical and cosmetic purposes. In cosmetic applications, a purified and controlled form of the toxin is injected into specific muscles to temporarily paralyze them. This helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, as the muscles responsible for causing those wrinkles are relaxed.
Cosmetic Use of Botox
Botox injections are commonly used to treat dynamic wrinkles, which are wrinkles that form due to repeated facial expressions. These typically appear around the eyes (crow’s feet), on the forehead, and between the eyebrows (frown lines). This leads to a temporary reduction in muscle activity and smoother skin in the treated areas.
Procedure & Results
Botox treatments are minimally invasive and involve a series of injections using fine needles. The procedure is relatively quick, and most people can resume their normal activities shortly afterward. Results become noticeable within a few days, peak at 2 weeks, and the effects usually last around three to six months. Over time, as the effects wear off, repeat treatments are necessary to maintain the desired results. Typically, less treatment with neurotoxin and more time in between treatments are developed the more consistent one is with treatment.
Risks & Considerations
While Botox treatments are generally safe when administered by trained professionals, potential side effects include some mild swelling and possible bruising at injection sites, which typically resolve quickly.
